The Club held a training session in the clubhouse for members in the use of CPR and the defibrillator machine in the event any member or visitor should experience heart failure whilst at the club.
We learnt the value of the CPR technique and the defibrillator (donated by past president Peter Savage) when our member and past president Derek Garrood had heart failure when playing at the club – and through the valiant efforts of 2 of our members who are retired doctors and later by 2 police officers and 2 ambulance crews were able to save Derek’s life after using the defibrillator and after a long period of applying CPR
Consequently the training was organised by Chris Hutchinson through The Heart Foundation. A dozen members attended and learnt the process and technique of CPR – all agreed a worthwhile exercise with thanks and a donation sent to THF by the Treasurer
